Our giving tree went up and although we know times are especially tough for families this year we went with it anyway because we so love the idea of it. The idea of teaching children at a young age the importance of giving to others, of helping those with less. The community spirit. The church was hopeful we would be able to help their cause.
It began slowly with a couple of hats here and there. We decided to make some pine cone ornaments to help fill in the empty spaces. We were still wishing and hoping. Then within a matter of a few days it seemed that it was suddenly overflowing with the spirit of giving we all had hoped for. It exceeded the best of our best years. Those that maybe were not able to purchase still found a way to give - there were some of the most beautiful home made hats - some crocheted, some sewn…
The church was thrilled and we all were able to feel great about helping others. Thank you to all who found a way to participate!

As part of our annual tradition, we have set up our classroom “Giving Tree.” Every year we work with the Dublin Community Church to help collect hats, mittens, gloves and scarves for needy families in the area. Hand knit items are also welcomed. Most needed are toddler sizes as well as elementary and middle school aged sizes. Community participation is welcome! If you would like to participate, please send in your donations before December 12th. Thank you!

Did you know you can eat the rainbow?!
Did you know that purple is the color of the Meats and Beans group on the food pyramid?
Did you know that eating healthy foods helps you to GROW, GLOW, and GO?!
Two mornings this week we were the lucky recipients of visits from the Nutrition Detective, Donna Poe, from Monadnock Healthy Teeth to Toes.
We had so much fun and already today the children were analyzing their snacks and lunches to figure out what food groups they were eating from!
As a follow-up to our learning we will be creating our own home made healthy pizza lunch starting next week and will continue our monthly free lunch offerings which the children all participate in creating.
